Nestled by the edge of the National Park of Sallandse Heuvelrug, Huize Holterberg is located 2km from the Pieterpad Hellendoorn - Holten etappe and 2.2km from the Holten train station. The B&B is set in a relax environment, surrounded by nature, and yet not too far away from Holten centrum where you can find cafe and restaurants, grocery and pharmacy.
Outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers will find this place serene and calm given its environment and location. You will be able to walk from our B&B directly into the forest. Just 15 min of walking brings you to a small heather field which turns purple from mid August to early September, when it is the most beautiful. A 4.2km walking from the B&B brings you to the Holterberg viewing point, a known landmark in the Sallandse Heuvelrug. We are fanatic runner ourselves, and we can certainly share and recommend some lovely trail running paths that we have discovered ourselves.
Besides our bedrooms, Huize Holterberg has a 12m swimming pool with deck chairs which is open for guests to use in the summer. Time to get a sun tan! Guests may enjoy a glass of wine or a beer at the garden terrace throughout the summer. We also have a sauna, and there is a small charge for the use of the sauna. Please reserve in advance.
At our B&B, we offer free wifi, free parking of upto 4 cars, bicycle storage and free pick up service from Holten train station (subject to availability). If you are doing the Pieterpad route from 'Hellendoorn - Holten' and from 'Holten - Laren', you will be crossing the Holten train station.

This comfortably spacious room
(23 m2) with 2 single beds (120x210cm) is located on the first floor. The beds can also be combined as one for couple. The unique feature of this room is its long horizontal window with view of the front garden and tall trees. You can enjoy plenty of light. The bathroom and toilet (wc) is on a shared basis.
This is a spacious room (39 m2) with 3 big single beds (120 x 210cm) located on the first floor. This room is suitable for 3 pax. The room is spacious enough to add in an additional single bed (kid). This room comes with a working table, convenient for business traveller. It has a trapezium and horizontal shaped window with view of the back garden (pine trees), swimming pool and our blueberry garden. The 3rd bed is located in an adjoined room separated by a door. The bathroom and toilet (wc) is on a shared basis.
This cozy room ( 15m2) has a king size bed (180x210cm) with armchairs where you can sit and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea in the bedroom. It is the smallest room of the 3 we have in Huize Holterberg. This room is suitable for single traveller or couple who prefers a small cozy space. The bathroom and toilet (wc) is on a shared basis.

PIETERPAD
"The Pieterpad was conceived, walked and described between 1978 and 1983 by Toos Goorhuis-Tjalsma from Tilburg and Bertje Jens from Groningen. Two friends who thought that the Netherlands could use a serious long-distance path. They were inspired by a hiking tour in the German Black Forest and wanted to create something similar in the Netherlands."

Our photo gallery
It is prettiest in August and September.
We will use home grown food as our ingredients as much as we can.
Trees are chopped down if the forester decides that it is better for the overal environment. It makes for quite a nice photo.
